USES FOR ESSENTIAL OILS AROUND THE HOUSE

Use essential oils that please your senses and at the same time deep clean your home. Essential oils are ideal cleaning supplies. They remove toxic mold, stale air, unpleasant odors, and kill viruses, bacteria and dust mites.

Imagine your kitchen pleasing with the smell of lemon, grapefruit, cinnamon, or rosemary. Your living room inviting with fragrant cushions of peppermint - a natural insect repellant. And pine, cedar wood, sandalwood, frankincense, juniper and clary sage are relaxing companions in your sitting room.

For a calming and romantic environment in the bedroom, choose rose, ylang ylang, jasmine, geranium, and lavender. Scent your office with basil, rosemary, and lavender for concentration. And don't forget to scent the pet pillow with flea deterring lavender and peppermint.

HERE ARE A FEW PLACES IN THE HOME YOU CAN USE THEM:

Dishwasher:
A few drops of oil may be added to the dishwasher to help disinfect and purify. Some popular oils are pine, orange, tangerine, lemon, and peppermint.

Vacuum Cleaner:
You may also saturate a disposable cloth or tissue with several drops of essential oil and place it into the collecting bag of your vacuum. This will diffuse a pleasant odor as you clean.

If your vacuum collects dirt into water, simply add a few drops into the water reservoir before cleaning. This refreshes both, the carpet and the room.

In the Dryer:
Instead of using toxic and irritating softening sheets in your dryer, place a washcloth dampened with 10 drops of lavender, lemon, melaleuca, bergamot, or another essential oils. While the oils will not reduce static cling, they will impart a distinctive fragrance to your clothes.

Painting:
When painting, add a 5 ml bottle of your favorite essential oil such as White Angelica, Abundance, or Sacred Mountain, to 1 gallon of paint. Mix well. The oil will counteract the unpleasant smell of paint. Because essential oils are not fatty oils, they will not leave oil spots on the wall.

Deodorizing: Kitchen and Bathrooms, etc.
The kitchen and bathroom are often a source of odors and bacteria. use the following mixtures to freshen, deodorize, and disinfect the air, work areas, cupboards, bathroom fixtures, sinks, tiles, woodwork, carpets, etc. These blends are safe for the family and for the environment.

Since the oils separate easily from water, always shake well and keep on shaking the bottle as you use these mixtures. They will deodorize and clean the air instead of covering the odors.

Single oils: Rosemary with lemon, Eucalyptus globulus, and lavender.
Blends: Lavender with Purification

  • 2 drops rosemary
  • 4 drops lemon
  • 3 drops Eucalyptus globulus
  • 4 drops lavender with 1 quart water
Shake well and put in a spray bottle.
  • 3-4 drops lavender

  • 5-6 drops Purification with 1 quart of water
Shake well and put in a spray bottle.

JUST TO NAME A FEW ESSENTIAL OILS:
    Chamomile,Cinnamon, Eucalyptus, Lime,Grapefruit, Vanilla
Geranium, Lavender, Lemon, Lemongrass,Tangerine, Peppermint, Pine, Rose, Rosemary, Spearmint, Sweet Orange, Tea Tree

Tricks & Tips For Animal Lovers

Bleach Bottle as Cat Litter Scoop
Cut diagonally across the middle of an empty, clean bottle, toss the base, and use the half with the handle to scoop up soil or cat litter.

Bath Mat as Car Seat Protector
Protect your car seats from muddy paws by covering them with a bath mat or two before packing Lilly the Lab in the backseat. The rubber bottom will help the mat stay in place. Between trips, stow the mat in the trunk.

Plastic Bags as Hand Protectors
Fact: There are some things you'd just as soon not touch with your bare hands. Use bags as gloves to handle what's messy (say, chicken carcasses) or just plain gross (like the little "presents" the dog leaves in the front yard), then turn them inside out to trap the offending matter within for easy disposal.

What tricks and tips do you have?
Please share them with us, we would love to hear them.

Thanksgiving Should Be Everyday!

November 27th Thanksgiving Day is traditionally a time focusing on enjoying time together and sharing a meal with families, friends and loved ones.

Thanksgiving Day will be gone all too soon, but there is no reason why you cannot continue the spirit of Thanksgiving all year around.

Just a few ways Thanksgiving can be everyday!

1. Appreciation for others
Show your appreciation to the people you meet daily. Even just genuinely saying thank you from the heart will mean a lot to them. All the people you acknowledge will be truly touched.

2.Celebrate life every day.
Life is for celebrating, and if you choose to do so, your life can be a never ending fiesta! Look for ways to celebrate every day, even if it’s just a nice cup of coffee or a cool glass of water.

3. Share your abundance.
Your worldly goods, your wisdom, your innate goodness, and indeed nature’s bounty. You have been given so much, so share it with others every day and don’t wait for this time next year.
Support worthy causes, help someone in a positive way. There are many ways you can share and spread your abundance. By showing your abundant, giving, and carefree nature you will inspire abundance awareness in others.

4. Appreciate your love ones
We so often take people for granted only to miss them when they are gone. Many times loved ones leave and we wish we’d told them how much they mean to us.
Show your loved ones you truly care for them every day and not just on a few special occasions each year. You don’t even have to make a grand gesture to show your appreciation. Sometimes all they want is some quality time with you and your undivided attention.

5. Help others and bring people together
Ultimately,we are all interconnected, even if we don’t know each other and have nothing in common.Regardless of your relationship, look for ways to help others. Random acts of kindness is super, and giving of yourself is one of the best joys of life.Connect with people without wanting anything from them. And look for ways of bringing people together all year around, not just during holidays. By creating togetherness, you will help to generate and inculcate  a sense of  well-being. When you give the gift of a smile or a kind word, you create a beautiful ripple effect of joy that touches many, and helps build bridges between everyone. There is no reason why we cannot have that magical, Thanksgiving joy all year around.

6. Live with an attitude of gratitude.
Gratitude is all about appreciating the things you have in your life everyday, and not just on Thanksgiving Day. From today onward, begin to value all the goodness, beauty, and love around you.

Gratitude is a way of reaching back to your natural state of happiness. Notice what’s right instead of what’s wrong, and begin to see every “problem” as an opportunity for growth and development. Is your glass half full or half empty?

Be thankful for a gift from a friend, a child’s smile, a stranger’s kindness, and even the weather, regardless of whether it is raining or the sun is shining.
Make it a life long commitment to live with an attitude of gratitude.

3. Add two teaspoons of baking soda to your baby’s bath water to clear up diaper rash.

4. Remove crayon marks from walls by scrubbing lightly with a damp cloth dipped in baking soda.

5. Polish your silver with a paste of baking soda and water. Rub on to remove tarnish, rinse in warm water and dry with a soft cloth.

6. Mix baking soda with water to form a paste, and use it to clean and polish stainless steel and chrome.

7. Apply a paste to barbeque grills, allow to soak for a bit, scrub and rinse

8. Mix baking soda into cat litter to help control odor.

9. Scatter baking soda around vegetable gardens to keep rabbits out.

10. Got ants? Pour a solid line of baking soda across points of entry and ants won’t cross it.

11. Sprinkle some baking soda into your vacuum bag to prevent odors from being released into the air when vacuuming.

12. Remove coffee and tea stains from china. Dip a damp cloth in baking soda and gently rub the stains away.

13. Relieve heartburn by drinking a teaspoon of baking soda dissolved in half a glass of warm water.

Move In/Move Out Tips

1. Color coordinate
Select a color and number for each room in the home, such as green for kitchen, pink for bathrooms, yellow for dining room, etc. Apply colored stickers or bright colored duct tape on the boxes along with the number of the rooms. You can also put a matching sticker on the door to each room with number. The movers or you will know where to put everything when they/you arrive at the destination.

2. Make A Log
keep a log of the contents of each box. You’ll be glad you did your first night in your new house when you can’t remember where you packed the bathroom supplies!

3. Personal Bags
Let each family member fill their personal bag with items they’ll want ‘right away’ in the new home  bath towel, toothpaste, tooth brush, phone charger, a set of sheets, a change of clothes and so on.

4. De-clutter as you pack
As you are packing de-clutter each room, pack only what you want to keep. You can start by getting 3 boxes or doing 3 piles and name them Keep.....Give Away and Thrash. sort through every closet, draw and shelf and put the items in their designated boxes or pile.

CLEANING WITH LEMON JUICE

Keeping our home clean and healthy should not be a choice, it should be a habit. As we all know keeping it simple and toxic free can be beneficial to our health.

Here are a few tips for cleaning with lemon juice:

Cutting board
To remove stubborn food stains, cut in half and squeeze lemon on dirty surfaces. Rub the piece of lemon and let stand for 20 minutes before cleaning. Cutting boards were clean and free of bacteria. Generally, the lemon will work better on a cutting board made from wood or plastic.

Hands
When handling raw fish, fishy odor usually will stick to the hand. Rub your hands with lemon juice to neutralize the stench.

Tableware
To remove fat from tableware such as plates and spoon, add a teaspoon of lemon juice on a detergent or dishwashing liquid. Then with a sponge as usual. Tableware become more clean, free of oil residue and feels rough.

Garbage Bins
We all know the bad odor coming from the kitchen garbage bins. To avoid situations like this, you have to put a few slices of lemon on the bottom of your kitchen garbage bins. The lemon will absorb the bad smell and it will disappear.

Clothes
In addition to whitening or bleaching detergent, there is a safer way to brighten the white clothes turning yellow or dull. Add a half cup of fresh lemon juice to the liquid detergent, then use it to wash as usual. If you use a washing machine, pour the lemon juice when you start the washing process. Keep in mind, separate white and colored clothes so that the results are better.
