Thanksgiving Should Be Everyday!

November 27th Thanksgiving Day is traditionally a time focusing on enjoying time together and sharing a meal with families, friends and loved ones.

Thanksgiving Day will be gone all too soon, but there is no reason why you cannot continue the spirit of Thanksgiving all year around.

Just a few ways Thanksgiving can be everyday!

1. Appreciation for others
Show your appreciation to the people you meet daily. Even just genuinely saying thank you from the heart will mean a lot to them. All the people you acknowledge will be truly touched.

2.Celebrate life every day.
Life is for celebrating, and if you choose to do so, your life can be a never ending fiesta! Look for ways to celebrate every day, even if it’s just a nice cup of coffee or a cool glass of water.

3. Share your abundance.
Your worldly goods, your wisdom, your innate goodness, and indeed nature’s bounty. You have been given so much, so share it with others every day and don’t wait for this time next year.
Support worthy causes, help someone in a positive way. There are many ways you can share and spread your abundance. By showing your abundant, giving, and carefree nature you will inspire abundance awareness in others.

4. Appreciate your love ones
We so often take people for granted only to miss them when they are gone. Many times loved ones leave and we wish we’d told them how much they mean to us.
Show your loved ones you truly care for them every day and not just on a few special occasions each year. You don’t even have to make a grand gesture to show your appreciation. Sometimes all they want is some quality time with you and your undivided attention.

5. Help others and bring people together
Ultimately,we are all interconnected, even if we don’t know each other and have nothing in common.Regardless of your relationship, look for ways to help others. Random acts of kindness is super, and giving of yourself is one of the best joys of life.Connect with people without wanting anything from them. And look for ways of bringing people together all year around, not just during holidays. By creating togetherness, you will help to generate and inculcate  a sense of  well-being. When you give the gift of a smile or a kind word, you create a beautiful ripple effect of joy that touches many, and helps build bridges between everyone. There is no reason why we cannot have that magical, Thanksgiving joy all year around.

6. Live with an attitude of gratitude.
Gratitude is all about appreciating the things you have in your life everyday, and not just on Thanksgiving Day. From today onward, begin to value all the goodness, beauty, and love around you.

Gratitude is a way of reaching back to your natural state of happiness. Notice what’s right instead of what’s wrong, and begin to see every “problem” as an opportunity for growth and development. Is your glass half full or half empty?

Be thankful for a gift from a friend, a child’s smile, a stranger’s kindness, and even the weather, regardless of whether it is raining or the sun is shining.
Make it a life long commitment to live with an attitude of gratitude.

Cleaning With Baking Soda

1. Use in place of your regular scouring powder to scour sinks, showers, and bathtubs, and to remove stains from countertops

2. Wash new baby clothes without any harsh detergents – just use some mild liquid soap and 1/2 a cup of baking soda.

3. Add two teaspoons of baking soda to your baby’s bath water to clear up diaper rash.

4. Remove crayon marks from walls by scrubbing lightly with a damp cloth dipped in baking soda.

5. Polish your silver with a paste of baking soda and water. Rub on to remove tarnish, rinse in warm water and dry with a soft cloth.

6. Mix baking soda with water to form a paste, and use it to clean and polish stainless steel and chrome.

7. Apply a paste to barbeque grills, allow to soak for a bit, scrub and rinse

8. Mix baking soda into cat litter to help control odor.

9. Scatter baking soda around vegetable gardens to keep rabbits out.

10. Got ants? Pour a solid line of baking soda across points of entry and ants won’t cross it.

11. Sprinkle some baking soda into your vacuum bag to prevent odors from being released into the air when vacuuming.

12. Remove coffee and tea stains from china. Dip a damp cloth in baking soda and gently rub the stains away.

13. Relieve heartburn by drinking a teaspoon of baking soda dissolved in half a glass of warm water.

14. Clean yellow stains off of piano keys with a mixture of 1/4 cup baking soda in 1 quart warm water.

15. Add a teaspoon of baking soda to vases of fresh cut flowers to extend the life of your blooms.

16. Use as a natural deicer on your walkways in the winter. Unlike salts and commercially available chemical deicers it won’t harm floors if tracked in.

17. Forget those expensive scrubs  and make a paste of baking soda and water for the best facial exfoliant you will ever try!

18. Clean mildew from shower curtains by soaking them in baking soda and water.

19. Dry clean the dog by rubbing baking soda into fur and comb out.

20. Sweeten your tomatoes by sprinkling baking soda on the soil surrounding your tomato plants.

Move In/Move Out Tips

1. Color coordinate
Select a color and number for each room in the home, such as green for kitchen, pink for bathrooms, yellow for dining room, etc. Apply colored stickers or bright colored duct tape on the boxes along with the number of the rooms. You can also put a matching sticker on the door to each room with number. The movers or you will know where to put everything when they/you arrive at the destination.

2. Make A Log
keep a log of the contents of each box. You’ll be glad you did your first night in your new house when you can’t remember where you packed the bathroom supplies!

3. Personal Bags
Let each family member fill their personal bag with items they’ll want ‘right away’ in the new home  bath towel, toothpaste, tooth brush, phone charger, a set of sheets, a change of clothes and so on.

4. De-clutter as you pack
As you are packing de-clutter each room, pack only what you want to keep. You can start by getting 3 boxes or doing 3 piles and name them Keep.....Give Away and Thrash. sort through every closet, draw and shelf and put the items in their designated boxes or pile.

CLEANING WITH LEMON JUICE

Keeping our home clean and healthy should not be a choice, it should be a habit. As we all know keeping it simple and toxic free can be beneficial to our health.

Here are a few tips for cleaning with lemon juice:

Cutting board
To remove stubborn food stains, cut in half and squeeze lemon on dirty surfaces. Rub the piece of lemon and let stand for 20 minutes before cleaning. Cutting boards were clean and free of bacteria. Generally, the lemon will work better on a cutting board made from wood or plastic.

Hands
When handling raw fish, fishy odor usually will stick to the hand. Rub your hands with lemon juice to neutralize the stench.

Tableware
To remove fat from tableware such as plates and spoon, add a teaspoon of lemon juice on a detergent or dishwashing liquid. Then with a sponge as usual. Tableware become more clean, free of oil residue and feels rough.

Garbage Bins
We all know the bad odor coming from the kitchen garbage bins. To avoid situations like this, you have to put a few slices of lemon on the bottom of your kitchen garbage bins. The lemon will absorb the bad smell and it will disappear.

Clothes
In addition to whitening or bleaching detergent, there is a safer way to brighten the white clothes turning yellow or dull. Add a half cup of fresh lemon juice to the liquid detergent, then use it to wash as usual. If you use a washing machine, pour the lemon juice when you start the washing process. Keep in mind, separate white and colored clothes so that the results are better.

GRILL CLEANING FOR SPRING/SUMMER B-B-QUE

BBQ TOOLS
Grill Cleaning should be done regularly and barbeque tools should be always cleaned after they been used. But before you start to clean your grill, you should read the owners manual first. Different grills and different materials aren´t cleaned in the same way.

If you are cleaning a charcoal grill, remember that coals can´t be removed immediately after use. Sometimes it can take two to three days before coals can be removed from the grill. Hot or warm coals should not be should not be taken into a trashcan or placed into a plastic bucket, warm coals can cause a fire.

Cleaning Grill Grates

Grill grates should be removed before cleaning. Use a rags, wire grill brushes or steel wool for cleaning grill grates. For stubborn grease stains you might need some warm soapy water or oven cleaner. Before you set the grate back, coat it with a thin film of cooking oil.

Tips to keep in mind:
    • A clean grill burns better and doesn't leave a bad taste on foods.

    • Keeping grill surfaces lightly coated with cooking oil or spray will make clean up much easier.

    • If the gas jets are clogged, consider replacing the burner or carefully clean them with a soft wire brush.

    • Regular cleaning makes the job much easier.

        * Let us know how you get your grill clean and ready for bbq and what tools/products do you use to get it done?

From The Article The “housekeeper dilemma”

It took us some time to get over our self-imposed barrier of hiring some help with the house chores. I’m not lazy, and it struck me as a weak, self-indulgent thing to do. But, as J.D. freely admits, he’s a slob. We’d fight over the mess in the house, and time and time again would try to institute a “system” to keep it clean, only to fail once more and descend into arguments. With both of us working full-time, we wanted to spend our time at home in other ways than cleaning.

Still, I felt guilty for paying someone else to do work I didn’t want to do myself. I admit it: It feels weird to pay someone to clean your toilets! And I felt guilty for even being able to afford considering “outsourcing” the housework. After all, anyone can do housework, right?

Over time, our guilt is misplaced. You ask Why would I feel any guiltier paying someone for cleaning my house than cooking my food at a restaurant, or growing my food at a farmer’s market, or knitting a hat I buy at a cute store? I can cook; I can grow food; I can knit. But often I choose to pay someone else to do these tasks rather than do them myself. Why does the housekeeper, then, represent such obscene luxury in our debates on the complexities of social economics?

Primarily, I believe it’s because we see our housekeeper face-to-face. We invite them into our homes and our lives. in a way that is invisible for the many other jobs we outsource. The agricultural worker doesn’t deliver pears to our door, nor the factory worker bring inexpensive mass-produced products to personally stock the shelves in our pantry. We don’t directly pay the garbage-collector, the office custodian, or the guy who sweeps out the theater after J.D. spills all his candy on the floor. For these things, there’s an insulating layer of “a company” between the producer of the goods and the consumer. With a cleaning service/housekeeping, no such dividing layer exists.

Professional housecleaning, like agricultural harvesting, child-care, and many service-industry jobs, is a job that is frequently viewed by others as jobs performed by people without much higher education or unique skills. These jobs are typically low-paying, but that doesn’t mean the people who perform these jobs are unworthy. I’m all for a living wage, but the more specialized and rare your skills, the higher salary you can command if there is a market for those skills. It’s basic supply and demand. And just because a job doesn’t pay well does not mean that job is demeaning.
In my mind, the bottom line is that everyone outsources. Unless you grow, harvest, and process your own food, make your own clothes from fibers you’ve produced and spun, build your own house, create your own power sources, and are completely independent from the long chain of people in the manufacturing economy, you’re paying other people to do that which you do not want to do, don’t want to make time to do, or lack the skills to do. In the modern word, specialization is the norm and Professional Housekeeping have grown with a high paying rate.

So, do what work works for you — I’ll be in the garden with the gift of time i got from hiring a cleaning service.
